The Governor has gone ahead and declared a state of emergency ahead of a flood event that’s supposed to make its way across a good portion of Kentucky this weekend.
A Flood Watch was already in effect for early Saturday morning though Sunday morning, and now another two to five inches of rain is anticipated to fall in areas that are already rain-soaked. Significant flooding is possible, including widespread areal, river and isolated flash flooding.
Governor Andy Beshear has issued a state of emergency and activated the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center and units of the Kentucky National Guard to stand ready to respond. That in turn activates the state’s price gouging laws to protect Kentuckians.
If you have plans to travel this weekend, make sure you stay weather aware and never drive across flooded roadways.
