Gov. Beshear talks growth, strength of the Commonwealth in address

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear touted the strength of the Commonwealth during his State of the Commonwealth Address Wednesday evening, and says it’s set to get even stronger.

Speaking on his “New Kentucky Home” initiative, the governor waxed eloquent about what he calls a booming economy in the state, saying 2024 was a record-breaking year for economic and job growth.  That includes in western Kentucky, where Kitchen Food Company announced the plan to locate in Christian County, creating 925 jobs—one of many such announcements the governor spoke of.

He called the State of the Commonwealth strong—and says it’s just going to get stronger over 2025, with all eyes on Kentucky.

As legislators are convened in Frankfort for the 2025 session of the Kentucky General Assembly, Governor Beshear advised them to use kindness and compassion in their legislating.

During Wednesday’s speech, the Governor continued to push for pay raises for educators and universal pre-K for all Kentucky 4-year-olds, as well as a statewide talent attraction program.
