A Henderson County man is $1 million richer after he bought a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket—and he says it still doesn’t feel real.
The man, who is staying anonymous, says he made a stop at an Ideal Mart on South Green Street in Henderson and purchased a $30, $1 million ticket, and when he scratched off the ticket and revealed three crown symbols, he knew he had won.
He says he was kind of in shock, and it still hasn’t sunk in. When he called his significant other to tell her the news, she didn’t believe him at first.
When asked how he felt about seeing $1 million show up on the lottery machine, his response was, “Finally!”
The winner chose to take the lump sum cash payment, receiving a check for $504,000 after taxes. They plan to save the winnings and continue living as they always have, saying the prize money will provide a sense of security for anything that comes up in the future.
