A home was badly damaged by fire in Hopkinsville last night on East 13th Street.
According to the Hopkinsville Fire Department, firefighters responded to the residence in the 900 block of East 13th Street just after 11 p.m. Wednesday and found smoke coming from the home, along with an active fire in the front of the structure.
Four stations assisted at the scene and crews worked for several hours to make sure the blaze was completely extinguished. Six residents, including five children and one adult, were able to escape from the home without injury, and a dog was located and removed from the residence.
A heater located in a crawl space, is suspected to be the cause of the blaze.
