Hopkins County deputies arrest man for vehicular assault, fleeing

Deputies from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Russo of Nebo on Sunday after he reportedly struck two individuals with a vehicle and fled from the scene.

Law enforcement responded to a location on North Hoffman Street in Nebo to investigate a complaint. At the scene, two individuals claimed that Russo used his motor vehicle to assault them. One of the individuals struck was treated by emergency medical service personnel.

Deputies later found Russo and his vehicle near the scene of the incident. Russo reportedly did not comply with law enforcement’s orders and fled from them. Russo led deputies on a pursuit back to the original scene where he reportedly began to flee on foot before he was caught and arrested.

Russo was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substances, possession of synthetic drugs and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
