Hopkins County’s Ben Prevette named 2026 Ky. Agriculture Educator of the Year

A Hopkins County teacher with Christian County ties has been named with 2026 Kentucky Agriculture Educator of the Year during the recent Kentucky FFA State Convention. 

Ben Prevette has been an agricultural education at Hopkins County Central High School for going on 12 years now, and in his time there, has helped expand hands-on learning for students. He has secured grants to purchase new welding equipment and a plasma table, established student-led sweet corn and melon production and helped get garden beds at the local elementary schools.

Under his leadership, Hopkins County Central has earned numerous regional championships and states titles in multiple categories. In addition to his work in the classroom, Prevette currently serves as vice chair of the Kentucky Association of Agricultural Educators and will serve as the organization’s president during the 2026-2027 school year.

According to a news release, Prevette was selected out of a list of regional finalists, and now he will also receive a $3,000 award and a commemorative plaque.
