In October, the Hopkinsville Fire Department hosted its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month T-shirt fundraiser and recently donated the funds raised to the Pink Ribbon Network.
The network is a local breast cancer support group that offers multiple avenues of assistance to those with the disease such as financial support, companionship with others who have had the disease as well as encouragement and emotional support.
Ann Isom from the network says the fire department’s shirts were a hit with the community and sold out. On Saturday the department presented the network with a check for $6,200 and Isom says she feels honored and blessed to receive support from the fire department and the community.
Isom says the funds will go toward support bags and financial assistance for gas, travel expenses and much more for those in the community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Once October rolls back around, Isom tells everyone to be on the lookout for T-shirts and says she knows the fire department will design another cute shirt.
More information and ways to support the network are available at the organization’s Facebook page, Pink Ribbon Network.
