Hopkinsville man charged after hiding in attic from officers

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly hid from officers in the attic of a building on Copperfield Avenue while officers attempted to serve him with a warrant.

According to the report from Hopkinsville police, officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 300 block of Copperfield Avenue to serve 46-year-old Larry Hutson with a warrant for parole violation. Hutson reportedly ignored commands to come out of the building, and once granted permission to enter by the homeowner, officers heard movement in the attic space.

Hutson allegedly continued to ignore commands and a K9 unit was deployed to apprehend him. While attempting to take him into custody, officers reportedly went through the ceiling multiple times.

Hutson was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for medical clearance, before being lodged in the Christian County Jail.

He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
