A Hopkinsville man has been arrested on human trafficking charges following investigation by the Hopkinsville Police Department.
According to a news release, detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children were informed that a local man was alleged to be actively luring and recruiting juveniles to engage in sexual acts with adults by use of electronic communication devices.
Investigation led to the arrest of Cortez Lewis Jr. of Hopkinsville—he is charged with human trafficking-commercial sex activity and procuring or promoting use of a minor by electronic means.
Since August of last year, HPD has received numerous tips of internet crimes being committed against children and in that time, a total of 159 charges have been brought against individuals attempting to operate in the community.
