Hopkinsville woman accused of burning child’s hand

The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating after a child was allegedly burned intentionally, and a woman has been charged with criminal abuse.

According to the police report, officers went to a South Kentucky Avenue home on Sunday to check on a 13-year-old whose hand had reportedly been burned on a hot stove as a punishment by her mother.  The report states the victim’s hand was visibly burned, with blistering on four fingers and burns on the palm. She had been taken to a medical office for treatment of the burn.

The mother, 34-year-old Ashlee Mann of Hopkinsville, reportedly told officers someone had called police and lied about the matter—she stated her daughter had burned her hand on accident and she would never hurt her child.

She was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse.
