HPD charges man with robbery, burglary, wanton endangerment

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges after allegedly making threats and pointing a gun at victims at a residence on Means Avenue Wednesday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, investigation revealed that 32-year-old Alex Settles of Hopkinsville entered the residence and assaulted a juvenile victim by hitting her and wrapping his hands around her neck, causing visible injuries. He also reportedly took the victim’s cellphone from her. 

When someone intervened, Settles allegedly made multiple statements that he would kill everyone in the home, and then retrieved a gun from a vehicle. He allegedly pointed the gun at one of the victims, while continuing to make threats. 

Settles was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation, second-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault, second-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
