The Hopkinsville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a person-of-interest in a homicide investigation, after a man was killed in a shooting Friday night.
According to the news release, officers responded to the area of East First Street and North Virginia Street late Friday night for reports that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, officers and EMS located and immediately began providing medical treatment to the victim, 27-year-old Jacorey Majors, who was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Despite those efforts, Majors would be pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives are now actively investigating the murder of Majors and a person-of-interest in the case—27-year-old Tavarious Mathews—is being sought for questioning.
Mathews should be considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached. If you have information on the whereabouts of Mathews, please contact ECC at 270-890-1300.
