Icy roads cause of wreck with injuries

Icy conditions caused a wreck on Russellville Road on Sunday, sending a Hopkinsville man to the hospital.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office report, the single-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Russellville Road and Vaughn’s Grove-Little River Road at approximately 7:20 a.m. A vehicle driven by 30-year-old Steven Harper of Hopkinsville was heading westbound on Russellville Road or U.S. 68 when he came in contact with some ice.

The vehicle slid off the roadway and into the median, where it struck a highway crossover and overturned.

Harper had to be mechanically freed from the vehicle by the Fairview Fire Department.  He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
