Joy Closet partners with CCMS students to host donation drive

Joy Closet and Christian County Middle School’s Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) is partnering to host a donation drive on March 28 to support children in the foster care system.

Joy Closet is a Hopkinsville-based nonprofit focused on supporting foster care children and foster families in the Pennyrile region by providing them with need-based donated items and other services.

CCMS Science Teacher Kelly Hancock says this will be the second time the program has partnered with the nonprofit to support children in need. In January, Hancock says they hosted a coat drive where around 75 coats were collected for Joy Closet.

Some of the students in STLP appeared on WHOP to spotlight the upcoming donation drive. Student Bonnie Zigg shared that they are seeking hygiene items such as baby wipes, baby soap, shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, deodorant and much more.

The donation drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 28 at the Neighborhood Walmart in Hopkinsville.
