Double murder suspect Anthony Gaines appeared in Christian Circuit Court on Monday where Circuit Judge Andrew Self made multiple rulings concerning trial motions.
Gaines was arrested in connection to the shooting deaths of Kierra Wallace and George Gomez near Peach Street in 2021. He is charged with two counts of murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and four counts of wanton endangerment. Gaines is represented by Brandi Jones and Michael Coleman.
If convicted, Gaines could face the death penalty, and Self denied a motion to declare the death penalty as unconstitutional in the case.
Self also denied a motion to dismiss the indictment against Gaines and deferred making a ruling on the use of cellphone location records at trial.
Gaines is set to go to trial on July 13.
