The survey deadline has come and gone, and Christian County Government is pleased with the participation and ready to start going through the data to see what the people truly want.
Speaking with WHOP Thursday morning, Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam says they had almost 600 people take part in the survey, which was aimed towards seeing what priorities and services county residents want Fiscal Court to focus on.
He says now they’ll pick apart the data and at a meeting later this month, they’ll start the process of developing a strategic plan on how to move the county forward from here. Judge Gilliam says something that will undoubtedly be discussed is the need for more housing in the county, and he thinks that’s something that is needed in the county to encourage more growth.
County-wide zoning has also been a point of interest for some time, and Gilliam says if anything were to be made official for that, it would be more focused on protection and less on restrictions.
The County Judge says the fiscal condition of the county is in good shape, and they’re determined to keep that the case.
Judge-Gilliam also bragged on the positive changes and programs at the Christian County Jail, saying the Jailor and the staff there are focused not just on housing the inmate population, but also preparing them for a better life after incarceration, where those individuals don’t return to a life of crime.
