Ryan Quarles, the new President and CEO of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, highlighted accomplishments and expanded on what he wants to achieve while in the role.
He provided a comprehensive overview of his first 70 days in office at the recent Board of Regents meeting, saying he is strengthening relationships in Frankfort, launching his Focus on the Future statewide tour and has been present at the system office in an effort to learn more about where the system needs to go from here.
He says he’s focused on being proactive instead of reactive to make sure KCTCS doesn’t miss out on any opportunities for growth.
Quarles says they’re focused on raising money for those most in need in their institutions and providing aid however they can.
He says he intends to advocate for KCTCS not just at the state level, but at the federal level as well.
Quarles also mentioned staying focused on the core values of the system, which include affordability, accessibility and workforce development. He stressed that he is committed to transparency and fixing the state audit findings.
In other action, the Board of Regents approved a $3 increase per credit hour to tuition and Accepted findings of the external audit for 2022-2023 conducted by Forvis. That audit resulted in a clean opinion of financial statements and no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses in internal controls over financial reporting or compliance.
