The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) and Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) announces the launch of the Famer Care Initiative.

The initiative is focused on improving the healthcare access and overall well-being of rural farmers in central and eastern parts of Kentucky.

This partnership was finalized during a proclamation signing with Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell, ARH President, and CEO Hollie Harris at the Farmer Care Initiative event at Barbourville ARH Hospital.

Commissioner Shell says, “We are thrilled to partner with Appalachian Regional Healthcare to bring these services closer to our rural communities, improving access and outcomes. This initiative reflects our commitment to the well-being of our agricultural communities, and I’m excited to see the positive impact it will have on Kentucky farmers and their families.”

The collaboration is a mutual commitment to promote the highest quality of healthcare and resources to the agriculture community in the state. The initiative first emerged from the Food is Medicine campaign to encourage farmers to fuel their bodies with the nutritious foods they grow everyday.
