Kentuckians donate over 200,000 pounds of food to statewide Cram the Cruiser event

Governor Andy Beshear is celebrating after Kentuckians donated over 200,000 pounds of food to support families in need across the Commonwealth.

According to a news release, the 204,262 pounds of food was donated by Kentuckians through Kentucky State Police’s annual statewide Cram the Cruiser food drive event—and the 2024 event collected over 42,000 more pounds of food than the year prior.

Since launching ‘Cram the Cruiser’ in 2010, the agency has donated nearly three million pounds of food to shelters, food banks and churches across the state, making a substantial impact on families in need.

KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. says, “Every donation stays in the community where it was collected. This year’s drive once again highlights the generosity of Kentuckians and the collective effort to fight hunger. I’m honored to see such a strong response.”
