The Department of Defense announced that Sergeant Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky has died following a missile attack in Saudi Arabia.
According to the department, Pennington serves in the 1st Space Battalion of the 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado. The attack reportedly happened on March 1 at the Prince Sultan Air Base, but Pennington died from his injuries on Sunday.
Lt. General Sean Gainey of the Army Space and Missile Defense Command says they are deeply saddened by the loss of Pennington who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the country he loved. The attack is under investigation.
