Out on Pembroke Road, where there once sat an empty spec. building waiting for a tenant, that’s no longer the case, as Kitchen Food Company has brought hustle and bustle to that area.
The Australian-based company began the moving process in September of last year, and in an update from Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Director Carter Hendricks Friday, he says that company is on track to open in the fall of this year. That means they’ll be looking to start the hiring process, with over 300 jobs up for grabs.
Kitchen Food Company produces ready-to-eat meals that are sold at grocery stores, and Hendricks says this brings more industry diversity to the area, while also working with local farmers to help supply the ingredients needed for those meals.
Hendricks says diversity in industries with your local economy is a good thing to allow for greater economic balance—if one industry is in a slump, then another one might not be, allowing for a stable workforce and economic impact.
Hendricks says if you’re looking for a new job or know someone who is, keep an eye on the SWKEDC website for job postings and information.
