Kentucky State Police will be participating in in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Operation SafeDRIVE campaign this week.
According to a news release, this enforcement campaign targets unsafe driving behavior that often leads to crashes involving passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The national SafeDRIVE initiative cracks down on dangerous interstate driving behaviors such as aggressive driving, speeding, tailgating, failing to wear a seat belt, distracted driving, and driving under the influence.
Sgt. Jason Morris, West Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Spokesperson, said 62 percent of fatal large truck crashes involve two or more vehicles.
Motorists are reminded to stay mindful of large vehicle’s blind spots, make sure you pass large vehicles safely, don’t cut them off and especially don’t tail gate.
