Kentucky State Police are continuing their Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort campaign into the weekend and through St. Patrick’s Day.
According to a news release, troopers will join law enforcement agencies across the nation in a coordinated effort to improve roadway safety and reduce preventable crashes. This effort comes as many schools in the country are letting out for spring break in the coming weeks, which always leads to an uptick in travel on highways and interstates.
Operation C.A.R.E., organized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, is designed to increase public awareness and enforcement aimed at dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to serious and fatal crashes. Officials are reminding folks to always buckle up, stay focused on driving, never drive impaired and report any unsafe driving you witness.
Troopers, and local law enforcement, will be conducting extra patrols through March 17.
