Local animal shelter hosts Howl-O-Ween adoption event over the weekend

The Christian County Regional Animal Shelter was filled to the brim with folks wanting to adopt pets at Saturday’s Howl-O-Ween Adoption Event.

During the event, all adoptions were $53 when typically, adult dogs cost $115, puppies cost $110 and cats cost $60. Shelter Director Melissa Goff says the discounted prices made an astronomical difference in how quickly animals were being adopted.

Along with the discounted adoptions, Goff says they had activities for kiddos and vendors, which included other local pet rescue agencies and crafters. The shelter was also offering discounted nail trims and microchipping services and the funds generated will go toward the Get Em’ Done Program. Goff says the program allows the shelter to spay and neuter their animals to avoid any accidental litters.

The shelter hosts the Howl-O-Ween event each year, and Goff says she enjoys inviting the vendors to set up as well as seeing the community crowd the building to find their special furry family member.

To start the morning, Goff says the shelter was at capacity, and to conclude the day, 29 animals were adopted, and four trial adoptions were started.
