Local Boys and Girls Club set to host 2026 Youth of the Year competition

The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville is excited to play host to the 2026 Boys and Girls Club of Kentucky State Youth of the Year Competition this week.

The Youth of the Year program brings young leaders from across the state to compete for a prestigious state title, as the program is designed to celebrate inspiring teenagers who demonstrate academic success, strong leadership, service to their communities and healthy lifestyles. During the two-day event on March 18 and March 19, finalists representing different clubs will participate in interviews in front a panel of judges, delivering speeches and sharing their personal stories of growth and leadership.

This event also highlights the vital role that Boys and Girls Clubs play in the lives of their members, providing mentorship and safe spaces that allow kids to reach their full potential.

The event will conclude at the Boys and Girls Club on Walnut Street, where the 2026 Kentucky State Youth of the Year and Military Youth of the Year will be announced. Those two selected will then go on to serve as ambassadors for Clubs and youth across the state.

Executive Director Terrence Davis says, “We are honored to host this year’s State Youth of the Year competition. These remarkable young people represent the very best of what our Clubs help make possible—confident leaders who are ready to shape the future of their communities.”
