Local grand jury issues indictments for drug, endangerment crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for drug trafficking, endangerment and burglary related crimes on Friday.

Earl Cook Jr. of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges in relation to a pursuit in January that ended with him being arrested for multiple drug trafficking and fleeing charges.

Cook was indicted on four charges of trafficking in a controlled substance for methamphetamine, anabolic steroids, fentanyl derivatives and marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree wanton endangerment, three counts of first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, using restricted ammunition during a felony and operating a vehicle on a suspended license.

Continuing with drug related offenses, Dustin Thomas of Crofton was indicted on charges in relation to a search warrant that was executed in February that unveiled an amount of methamphetamine at a residence reportedly consistent with drug trafficking. Thomas was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jack McLendon of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges from an incident that occurred in February where he was reportedly found to be in possession of synthetic drugs. McLendon was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband and tampering with physical evidence.

Turning toward endangerment related indictments, Jacquavius Redd of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of second-degree assault and four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The incident reportedly occurred in June of 2023, but Redd was not taken into custody until February.

In regards to burglary and theft related crimes, Ryan Barrett of Hopkinsville was indicted on a charge of first-degree burglary after he reportedly unlawfully entered a residence on Forbes Drive in February.

Tavoris Nix of Crofton was indicted on a charge of theft by unlawful tacking of an automobile after he was arrested in January for allegedly operating a vehicle that was reported as stolen.
