Local health department to host conference highlighting mental health resources

The Christian County Health Department is inviting citizens to its inaugural Community Conversations conference to highlight local healthcare resources.

The conference will take over the Bruce Convention Center on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and both sessions will focus on mental and general health topics. Health Department Communications Director Cloie Rager says they are excited to host this first time event and they are set to have around 30 healthcare-related vendors.

Rager says the conference will also include breakout sessions featuring keynote speakers talking about the mental health resources at the Pennyroyal Center, digital safety for teenagers, the importance of vaccinations and much more.

The conference will also include raffle and door prizes and refreshments. Rager says people don’t always feel comfortable going to the health department or Pennyrile Allied Community Services to learn about health resources in the community, so this conference alleviates that pressure.

The conference is free to the public, and more information about the health department is available at christiancountyhd.com.
