Local Kiwanis Club launches annual Warm the Children initiative

As winter approaches, the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club is launching its annual Willie Renshaw Warm the Children initiative to ensure that children in the community have warm clothing.

Kiwanis Club President Nikki Chambers recently appeared on WHOP to share how the community can support the initiative. Warm the Children started in 1995 and was led by the late Willie Renshaw, who brought the program to Hopkinsville to support local children.

Through the initiative, Chambers says they raise money to take families shopping so children can have warm clothes, such as coats, shoes, gloves and more, for the winter.

Chambers says last year they were able to buy clothes for 250 children and this year she looks forward to upping that number.

Those interested in making a monetary donation do so at hopkinsvillekiwanis.com or by mail to P.O. box 470 Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The Warm the Children initiative runs through December.
