Local police charge Hopkinsville man with speeding, fleeing

Officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department arrested Alex Meux of Hopkinsville after he was reportedly caught speeding and failed to stop when a traffic stop was initiated.

According to a report from police, an officer witnessed Meux traveling around 51 MPH in a 25 MPH residential area on Woodmill Road. The responding officer attempted a traffic stop and Meux stopped momentarily before reportedly turning left onto East 9th Street.

The report states that Meux had multiple opportunities to pull over before coming to a stop after turning onto Cedar Avenue. The responding officer reportedly found that Meux was operating the vehicle with an expired license and had two open alcoholic beverages in the vehicle as well.

Meux was charged with speeding, second-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a vehicle with an expired license and possessing an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.
