The Pennyroyal Arts Council is inviting the community to celebrate local young artists, as Hopkinsville’s newest mural will be unveiled on South Main Street on Friday.
The mural, which is located at 411 South Main Street at WB Express, was created by student members of the 2026 Summer Mural Art Camp. The theme for this year’s camp was “Soul Food” and the finished mural measures nearly 10’ by 6’ and was heavily inspired by the cubist sytle of Picasso’s “Three Musicians”. The work is designed to celebrate Christian County’s rich history and agricultural roots.
The students were under the guidance of instructor Mackenzie Russell, and it was limited to only ten participants, giving them a personal, collaborative experience that allowed them to leave their mark on Hopkinsville—literally.
Along with the mural, which will be revealed at 12 p.m. on Friday, the students also created a specialized chair to be donated to The Chair Project silent auction, helping to raise funds for Sanctuary, Inc. That auction will take place at 5 p.m. that same night at the Hopkinsville Brewing Company.
Education Coordinator Kelly Selfe says, “Seeing ten young artists collaborate on a massive 9.5′ x 6′ mural that honors our agricultural heritage and shines a spotlight on a staple downtown business will be incredibly powerful. Combining that with a beautiful, student-crafted piece to support
the life-saving work of Sanctuary, Inc. is exactly why we champion these immersive art programs.”
