The Kentucky State Fair concluded this weekend on August 25, there was a large crowd of Pennyrile competitors that participated in the fair festivities.
The fair showcased many expertise like livestock showing, cooking, arts and crafts, plant growing and even the infamous country ham contest. These competitions exhibit the rich agriculture heritage that runs through all of Kentucky’s industries.
Honorable mentions from the fair include:
Sahara and Cheyenne Peterson received a Blue Ribbon in Cupcake Wars.
Logan Hollen and Cali Yates brought home blue ribbons for Crittenden for their exemplary Boer and Market goats.
Tim, Wade and Ethan Chester received countless 1st, 2nd and 3rd palace ribbons for their tobacco.
Levi Womack took home Reserve Senior Champion Female.
Kathy Henry collected 1st place ribbons for her honey.
Lilly P’Pool won the Commissioner of Agriculture award for her showmanship during the goat show.
Country View Creamery placed first in categories for dairy products.
Bryan Frogue was awarded numbers first place ribbons for his country ham.
Lucky Pitmann of Hopkinsville won a first place ribbon in the Nuts category for Best Pint of Shagbark Hickory.
Jonathan Hoover mules were awarded first and second place ribbons, as well.
Christian County wants to thank everyone that competed and displayed the talent that the Pennyrile Region has to offer.
