Madisonville gearing up for Hot Air Balloon Glow, Madisonville Salutes events

The City of Madisonville is far from done with their community events for the year, as the Illuminated Hot Air Balloon Glow is set for this weekend and then the new Madisonville Salutes event in September.

On August 29, hot air balloons will fill the air at Mahr Park in Madisonville, and Luci Bess with the City of Madisonville says if you missed out last year, you won’t want to miss out this year. There will be about 10 air balloons at the park, and folks can even go up in one of the balloons that will be tethered and giving rides.

It’s $15 per person to hitch a ride, with four-to-seven passengers in each lift, with no height, weight or age restrictions. Bess says the gates open at 4 p.m. and along with the balloons, there will be activities for families, food and drink vendors, merchandise vendors and more.

Then on September 13, Madisonville City Park will be home to a full day of celebrations for the new Madisonville Salutes event, where Bess says they will honor our nation’s heroes with a full line up of activities, a car show, an evening fireworks show and more.

It all takes place that day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., and folks are urged to bring their own lawn chairs, the family, and your patriotic spirits as the community shows their gratitude to those who serve and protect this nation and its freedoms.
