The Madisonville Police Department arrested a woman after investigation into a disturbance on East North Street on Friday.
According to the police report, officers responded to East North Street around 8 p.m. for reports of a fight inside one of the apartments. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male victim who had apparent physical injuries, including eyes that were nearly swollen shut, a face covered in blood, a laceration to the top of the head, a puncture wound on his back and marks around his neck.
Investigation determined he had been assaulted during an altercation with Jennifer Coleman, who allegedly strangled him, struck him in the head with a trashcan and stabbed him in the back with a pair of broken scissors. The victim was taken to Baptist Health Madisonville due to the severity of his injuries.
Coleman was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and first-degree strangulation.
