A traffic stop reportedly turned into a pursuit in Madisonville on Saturday which led to the arrest of Zyair Clack of Hopkinsville on fleeing charges, but also on charges from a complaint warrant from Christian County.
Officers from the Madisonville Police Department observed a vehicle operated by Clack driving northbound on Interstate 69. According to a report Clack’s vehicle was following another driver to closely and drifting over fog lines.
The responding officer switched on their emergency lights to perform a traffic stop, because they suspected that Clack was intoxicated. However, Clack did not pull over for police, but instead reportedly accelerated and traveled westbound on Highway 2171.
Police were led on a pursuit through South Main Street and onto East McLaughlin Street when Clack allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with two other vehicles which in total had three occupants. After wrecking, Clack exited his vehicle and reportedly began fleeing on foot, but officers were able to detain him after a struggle.
According to the report officers found Clack to be in possession of cocaine which he told officers he consumed recently as well as a handgun.
Dispatch then found that Clack was a convicted felon with active parole warrants in regards to an assault incident that happened on November 1, 2023.
For his incident in Madisonville, Clack was charged with reckless driving, first-and-second-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle on a suspended license.
In regards to the November incident, Clack was charged with kidnapping an adult, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
