Excitement is building as the annual Madisonville Salutes event approaches, promising a full afternoon and evening of entertainment, remembrance and community activities.
City of Madisonville Event Coordinator Carrie Eison says the free event is scheduled for May 16, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Madisonville City Park, and is expected to draw families and visitors from across the region. In addition to the entertainment, Eison says the event will honor active-duty service members and first responders throughout the day.
The celebration will feature a wide range of activities designed for all ages. Attendees can enjoy the “Heroes and Hot Rods Cruise-In” car show from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., live music from country artists Colt Ford and Sarah Beth Brewer, food trucks, kids activities and a fireworks display to close out the evening.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore military displays and vehicles, including exhibits and traveling memorials recognizing the sacrifices of veterans and emergency personnel. Recruiting and informational booths will also be set up throughout the park, offering resources for veterans and opportunities to connect with local organizations and service groups.
Eison says she is looking forward to the event and meeting all the people out in the community and would like for all to come out and support the veterans because she believes they couldn’t do what they are doing without them.
