Man injured during CCSO attempt to serve an arrest warrant dies

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man was injured while deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant.

According to CCSO, deputies were in the area of the 12000 block of Antioch Road, attempting to locate a male suspect who had an active warrant out for his arrest. While searching for the suspect, he reportedly sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

He was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries, where he would later die of his injuries. Public Information Officer Sara Morris has identified the victim as 40-year-old Christopher Oxendine of Christian County.

No shots were fired by deputies during this incident.
