MLK Day Art Contest winners celebrated at Alhambra

Martin Luther King Jr. Day brought the return of a friendly competition this year, as area students entered their art pieces into the MLK Day Art Contest. 

The participants were celebrated in a presentation at the Alhambra Theatre Monday following the MLK Day annual program and before the Fisk Jubilee Singers took the stage in the afternoon. There were four age groups, starting with Pre-K through second graders and going all the way through seniors in high schools. 

The winners in each category were:

Pre-K – 2^nd Grade

1^st Place : Everett Coffey, Pembroke Elementary, 2nd grade

2^nd Place: Robert Davenport, Sinking Fork Elementary, 2nd grade

3^rd Place: Lexi Chambers, Pembroke Elementary, 1st grade

3^rd Grade – 5^th Grade

1^st Place: Amani Williams, Pembroke Elementary, 5th grade

2^nd Place: Kenzi Brown, Indian Hills Elementary, 5th grade 

3^rd Place: Miracle McGee, Sinking Fork Elementary, 3rd grade

6^th Grade – 8^th Grade

1^st Place: Ryan Becker, CCMS, 6^th grade

2^nd Place: Payton Arwine, CCMS, 8th grade

9^th Grade – 12^th Grade

1^st Place: Reyna Price, CCHS, 12th grade

2^nd Place: Jasmine Beckwith, CCHS, 12th grade

3^rd Place: Brittan Joiner, CCHS, 12th grade
