The journalism students at Murray State University are celebrating, after they brought home 15 awards home and a third-place win at the Kentucky Press Association Awards.
Murray State News got third place in the category of general excellence in the student division, which recognizes the best work across writing, reporting, visual journalism and design for Kentucky newspapers and news sites.
The News team also got four awards in the advertising division, and they were the only student publication to earn awards for advertisement. Additionally, they brought home ten individual awards in the news division, facing off against student reports from the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, Northern Kentucky University and Eastern Kentucky University.
Across both news and advertising contests, The News received five first-place awards, three second-place awards, four third-place awards and two certificates of merit.
The Murray State News is the student-run news organization at MSU.
