Murray Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director, Erin Carrico was awarded director of the year by the Kentucky Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau (KACVB).
KACVB President Traci Cunningham shared that Carrico was chosen as this year’s recipient for her outstanding contributions, dedication and leadership in the tourism industry.
Cunnigham says there were many fantastic executive directors nominated for the award, but Carrico stood above the rest for playing a role in legislative discussions, advocating in Frankfort and contributing to securing $75 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for Kentucky tourism.
Cunningham also recognized Carrico’s work during her own tenure as KACVB President in 2021. While the tourism industry was challenged by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Cunningham says Carrico was resilient and adapted to life during the pandemic to keep the tourism industry alive.
Carrico says she is honored to be this year’s award recipient and says her she is lucky to have her tourism family and that tourism is in her blood and Kentucky is in her heart.
