Kentucky FFA chapters have the opportunity to apply for the farm safety grants.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is raising awareness for farm safety, health and rescue by donating $125,000 to the Kentucky FFA Association. The Raising Hope Program organized by the KDA is providing the money for FFA chapters to use.
The main focus of the grant is to support chapters in spreading awareness for farmer safety. The hope is to enhance farmers’ comfortability in and outside for the tractor.
The Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell says, “I am proud to support this initiative that empowers our FFA chapters to address vital issues in agriculture.”
The expectation is for the grant to help fund chapter outreach for events specifically dedicated to farmer mental and physical health, farm safety and rescue. The KDA is supporting the needs of farmers to support the Commonwealth.
Commissioner Shell also mentions,“By focusing on farm safety, farmers’ health, and farm rescue, we are investing in the well-being of our farming communities and ensuring that our next generation of agricultural leaders is well-equipped to face these challenges. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to safeguarding the future of agriculture in Kentucky.”
