More newcomers and incumbents have filed to seek Hopkinsville City Council and Christian County Fiscal Court seats as the filing deadline approaches.
On Hopkinsville City Council, Ward 1 Council Member Vance Smith is seeking a second term to his current seat and is running as a Republican. Ward 10 Council Member Mike Velez is also seeking a second term to his current seat and is running as a Republican. Both council members currently do not have any opponents.
Newcomer Andrea Santos-Rickard is seeking city council’s Ward 11 seat which has been held by Jason Bell since 2019, who has not yet filed for reelection. Santos-Rickard is running for the position as a Democrat.
Turning toward fiscal court, third district incumbent George Barnett has a challenger and its newcomer Tana Loden who has filed to run for the seat as a Republican. The pair will face each other in the primary election.
