The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a driver fled from the scene of a single-vehicle accident that resulted in injuries on Thursday.
According to a report, deputies responded to an accident on Jessie Street in Nortonville and found that the driver, later identified as Donald Burns of Nortonville, fled from the scene. Julius Willis of Nortonville was a passenger in the vehicle and was still at the scene when deputies arrived.
Willis was injured in the wreck and was transported to an area hospital for his injuries. According to a witness, Burns fled to his home on foot where he obtained another vehicle and attempted to flee the area. Burns reportedly traveled to Crofton where he wrecked again.
Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Burns and he was transported to an area hospital for his injuries.
Deputies determined that the wreck in Nortonville reportedly occurred because Burns was speeding and struck the facing of a small bridge and they believe alcohol contributed to the wreck.
