With Oak Grove’s 17th annual Spring into Summer Salutes Fort Campbell Festival coming around the corner, Scarlett Mayfield from the Oak Grove Tourism Commission appeared on WHOP to announce that musician Bret Michaels will be their headlining act.
This year’s festival will take over the Oak Grove Memorial Walking Trail on Saturday, May 25 and on Sunday, May 26. Along with Michaels set to put on a show, Mayfield says they will have free carnival rides, fair food eats, a firework show, parachute jumpers and more.
Michaels is the frontman of the rock band Poison which formed in the 1980s. Michaels will take on the stage of the Viceroy Amphitheater at 7 p.m. on Saturday of the festival to perform some of his band’s most popular songs such as, “Every Rose Has its Thorn,” “Nothin’ but a Good Time,” “Talk Dirty to Me” and more.
A news release from the commission shares that Michaels a longtime supporter of the military and comes from a family of veterans. Michaels has also hosted concerts for troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.
Before Michaels takes the stage in the evening, the first day of the festival starts at noon with carnival rides and vendors opening, and continues with the Pompeyo Ranch Dog and Ninja Experience shows. Saturday will end with Michaels performing which will close out with a firework show.
Day two of the festival, kicks off at noon again with carnival rides and vendors and more showings of the Pompeyo Ranch Dog and Ninja Experience shows. The festival concludes at 6 p.m.
