An Evansville woman was arrested following a pursuit that began in Hopkins County and ended in Crofton on Sunday.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 125-mile-marker of Interstate 69 around 1 p.m. for reports of a vehicle theft. Investigation determined that the victim had stopped to help a stranded motorist, and while they were trying to help, 35-year-old Emily Dunaway of Evansville allegedly got into the victim’s vehicle and drove off, leaving the victim on the side of the road.
Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle near the Ext 106 interchange, and when they attempted to stop the vehicle, Dunaway allegedly fled southbound.
The pursuit continued into the City of Crofton, where the Christian County Sherriff’s Department was able to assist in stopping the vehicle.
Dunaway was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police and felony theft by unlawful taking of an automobile.
