Law enforcement in Lyon County is investigating a crash that injured two people and resulted in charges for one of the drivers.
According to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, on August 9, first responders went to the scene of a three-vehicle collision on KY 93 North of Kuttawa around 9:30 p.m. Preliminary investigation determined that a truck hauling a trailer and driven by 37-year-old Charles Breedlove of Kuttawa was heading southbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.
During that attempted passing, he reportedly side-swiped that vehicle—which was operated by 43-year-old Shawn Stallins of Princeton, pushing it off the roadway.
The trailer dislodged for Breedlove’s vehicle and went into the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a vehicle operated by 50-year-old Johnny Sullivan of Calvert City.
Sullivan and a passenger were both injured and transported to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment.
Breedlove was charged with reckless driving and additional charges could be pending.
