Kentucky State Police are investigating a crash that has closed I-24 in Lyon County and killed a Clinton, Ky. resident.
According to a news release, the single-vehicle crash happened near the 47-mile-marker of I-24 westbound at approximately 7:30 a.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by 19-year-old Landon Ray of Clinton had been heading westbound on I-24. Ray reported lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason.
It exited the roadway, collided with trees and then overturned.
Ray was flown to a Paducah area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash was near the Lake Barkley-Eddy Creek Bridge. KSP was assisted on scene by the Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County EMS, AirEvac, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
