A big paving project is about to get underway in Hopkins County, with preparation work set to begin on Monday, so motorists need to be aware of possible traffic impacts.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, this project will resurface approximately 13 miles of KY 112, from U.S. 62 in Ilsley to Daylight Road. It will also repave KY 813 from Morton Lane to U.S. 41. A large portion of KY 112 was paved just a few years ago.
Two crews will begin work on KY 112 next week, performing preliminary activities ahead of paving operations. One crew will start sidewalk repairs in the city of Earlington on Monday. Minimal traffic impacts are expected; however, motorists should remain alert for crews working near the roadway.
A second crew will begin work Tuesday, May 5, at the opposite end of KY 112, replacing a cross drain near the I-69 overpass. This work will require a temporary closure of KY 112.
Once sidewalk repairs are completed in Earlington, crews will move to Mortons Gap to continue similar work.
