Pennyroyal Arts Council Director spotlights upcoming shows, events

The Pennyroyal Arts Council’s 2025-26 Live at the Alhambra series is set to kick off in October, and the theatre’s movie series is also set to resume. Council Executive Director Margaret Prim recently appeared on WHOP to discuss the council’s upcoming plans.

Prim says their free movie series, which is hosted in partnership with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, resumes on October 7 with a showing of “Five Nights at Freddie’s.” On Halloween, the theatre will host a showing of “Night of the Living Dead.”

Before the movies return, Prim says they will be hosting Jazz On Stage on October 2. Prim says they have two shows planned for the evening at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the performances will include music by the Daniel Kelly Quartet and jazz artist Frederick Johnson.

Then, the Live at the Alhambra series starts on October 18 with “One Night in Memphis,” a tribute show spotlighting artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins who recorded music at Sun Records.
