The Christian County Public School System has announced that Nichole Poindexter will begin serving as the Full-Service Community Schools Director in February.
According to a news release, Poindexter is currently serving as the principal of Hopkinsville Middle School and will assume the role as director on February 5. The Full-Service Community Schools Director is a grant-funded position and part of the Prichard Committee’s $1.5 million investment in Christian County Schools over the next five years.
Christian County was awarded the grant which is designed to champion community-led educational solutions tailored specifically for Kentucky students and their families. When implemented effectively, the community schools’ model has been proven to boost student outcomes, increase college enrollments, and contribute to the overall well-being of students, especially in high-poverty schools.
Poindexter began her career in 1996 with CCPS and has served in numerous capacities, including school counselor in both elementary and middle school, assistant principal at the elementary and high school level and has served as principal at Hopkinsville Middle since 2021. Poindexter earned her degrees from Hopkinsville Community College, Austin Peay State University, and Murray State University.
Poindexter says, “I am honored to be selected as the Full Service Community Schools director. I love our community and schools and know the need is greater than ever to engage parents and schools to effectively support students. We have many opportunities for our students to be successful and often it only takes connecting students and families with the right resources. There is much work to do and I am ready to get to work.”
