Police arrest Hopkinsville man for assaulting woman, preventing her from leaving scene

Hopkinsville Police arrested 40-year-old Justin Parker of Hopkinsville after he reportedly assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent her from leaving the scene or calling for help on Saturday.

According to a report, officers responded to a residence on Talbert Drive for an unknown problem. At the scene, officers saw that the house’s back door was kicked and after entering they heard a woman screaming upstairs.

The pair came downstairs and the woman reportedly told officers that Parker was under the influence of alcohol or a narcotic when he hit her multiple times and choked her. She also says he was preventing her from leaving the scene and broke her phone to stop her from calling for help.

The victim reportedly had bruising on her neck and the right side of her face along with visible injuries to her pointer finger. Parker allegedly told officers that the altercation between him and the victim was verbal. He was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
